Originally from England, where she is a registered nurse and health visitor, Joanne has been working with families for nearly 15 years. In the UK every family has a health visitor who provides support and advice from pregnancy until their child is five years old. Joanne has been in Portland since 2009, teaching infant massage and working extensively with families providing lactation and postpartum support. Joanne is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula. She is passionate about providing support, time and advice to enable families to discover their own parenting styles and achieve their goals.
Joanne teaches newborn care and breastfeeding education at OHSU and is the Global Coordinator for the Big Latch On. The Big Latch On is a World Breastfeeding Week celebration, that brings together communities and develops support for families. Read more about the Big Latch On here.
In Wellington, NZ Joanne was a Clinical Nurse Educator for Resuscitation and she is now an American Heart Association Instructor for Basic Life Support and Heartsaver.
